Executive Committee Meeting

Present: Gwendolyn Davies, Scott Delcourt, Susan Guma, Fred Hall, Christina Hannah, Ronald Kane, Dale Kinney, Jack Narayan, Harry Richards, Richard Sleight

President Hannah called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m.

Secretary Treasurer Report:

Harry Richards distributed copies of the minutes from the 12/6/03 Executive Committee meeting. The minutes of the Executive Committee meeting were accepted as distributed.

Harry distributed an interim financial report. As of 4/1/04, there was a balance of $61,183.32 in the checking account. Membership has increased from 174 institutional members last year to 175 members for the current year. There are also 4 sustaining members, an increase of 2 from last year. Thirty-seven institutions have paid membership dues for 04-05 and 8 have paid for 05-06. It was also noted that our investment account has increased by $15,372.38 during 2003. Until the economy stabilizes, the 3 awards the NAGS pays for (dissertation, teaching and mentoring) will continue to be covered out of the operating budget.

Executive Committee:

The following individuals will be presented to the membership for service on the Executive Committee:
Harry Richards, President-elect
Jack Narayan, Secretary-Treasurer, 3-year term
Gwen Davies, member-at-large, 2-year term
Susan Guma, member-at-large, 2-year term
James Schaefer, member-at-large, 2-year term
Myron Thompson, member-at-large, 2-year term

The member-at-large terms will expire in April 2006.

Scott Bass, Christina Hannah and Ron Kane all received thanks from the rest of the Executive Committee for their service on the Committee.

Annual Meeting 2005:

Richard Sleight reported that the 2005 annual meeting would be held at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut, April 7-9, 2005.

A fall meeting of the Executive Committee will held on site. Dates to be determined.

Acknowledgements:

Carol Kagan and Patricia Spencer from UMUC and Jon Adams, Sharon Andrews and Carol Mathews from UNH were acknowledged for their contributions and support to the NAGS and the annual meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
